Rauset & Burgess «Landskap Med To Figurer»

Sorgen og Glæden De Vandre Tilhope

Instrumental made from the theme of an old Norwegian Hymn. The original melody doesn't appear until the 4. round though...

The harpsichord (cembalo) is an original Brødrene Knag model built in Bergen, Norway. I also used it on the Folque LP "Landet Ditt" (1981). The idea behind the melody is that the hymn melody could go a lot faster than when sung in the church - perhaps it was "stolen" from a contemporary dance tune, as is often the case with hymns. Why not "steal" it back for use as a folk dance tune?

About sound quality: The whole LP was recorded on a 4-track Teac. When recording more tracks, the first four would have to be mixed down in stereo to another machine before recording the next two, and so on, which made it almost impossible to do a mix afterwards.
